A computerized tomography scan, also known as a CT or CAT scan, emits beams of x-rays through the body to generate images of soft tissue, bones, cancers, vascular disease, heart disease, and/or infections. When individuals need a CT scan, they will lay flat on a table that moves gently into a high-powered scanning machine. After 10-15 minutes, the technologists will move the patient’s table out of the device and the series of images that were captured will be compiled for your doctor to review.
